- Lot Description
Pair of Vincennes Sevres Porcelain "Feuille de Choux" Ice Pails, mid-18th century, each with blue underglaze interlaced L marks and no date marks, one with painter's marks "LF" possibly for Foinet (cf. Carl Christian Dauterman, Sevres Porcelain: Makers and Marks of the Eighteenth Century, p. 158) both lids with impressed marks "38" and an "A" symbol (for other examples of this incised mark, also see Dauterman, pps. 174 & 176 for examples in the Dillon and Wrightsman collections), the liners apparently unmarked, each well painted with trophies, of Love, Music, Painting and Agriculture, the gilt "feuille-de-choux" border with blue feathered C-scrolls suspending flower garlands. 8.5" H x 11" W x 8" D. Provenance: From a 140 East 56th Street estate.
Note: The impressed "A" sculptors' mark is Cf. D. Peters, Sevres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, vol. II, Little Berkhamsted, 2005, pp. 361-362, no. 65-4 and Dalva Brothers – Parisian Taste in New York, Christie’s, New York, 21 October 2020, sale 19021, lot 206 for the trophy-decorated part service.
