- Lot Description
Diana Chiari de Gruber (Panama, 1912- 1989(?) ) Mesoamerican style ceramic plate in three colors, depicting two animals in the manner of the early Mesoamerican peoples, the reverse signed and dated "Diana Chiari / Panama / 1936." 11" diameter.
Note: Diana Chiari de Gruber was born in Panama in 1912. She received a scholarship to study art in Mexico, and returned to Panama in the early 1930's starting the Panamanian art pottery movement in Arena de Chitre. She founded the National Pottery School in La Arena, for which she was later honored with a Presidential Award. - Shipping Info
