LOT NOTES
George Albert Zabriskie, a native of New York City, was a prominent collector of art, books and manuscripts, as well as an enthusiastic supporter of many social causes and movements. He was a member of the Grolier Club, the Chairman of the membership committee of the Museum of the City of New York, President of the New York Sons of the Revolution and of the New York Historical Society, and a member of the American Antiquarian Society. A devoted admirer of art, Zabriskie himself would sometimes paint for his own amusement. However, his extant works are quite rare. The present lot and a painting in the collection of The New York Historical Society are the only two works currently known.
