A RUSSIAN ICON OF SAINT GEORGE SLAYING THE DRAGON, 19TH CENTURY
depicting Saint George on his white steed trampling a dragon coiled underfoot, with an angel crowning the victor, as the princess Elisaba of Atalia keeps the beast chained by the castle. Egg tempera, gold leaf and gesso on a wood panel. Two insert splints on the back (both missing).
