A COLLECTION OF 43 EARLY SOVIET CINEMATOGRAPHY PAMPHLETS ON FILMS AND ACTORS, 1920S ,
a rare collection of various illustrated pamphlets, each devoted to a single film, actor or play from the USSR and Hollywood. Mostly published by KINOPECHAT and GOSKINO in 1926 and 1927. The pamphlets provide brief statements of the theme, film reviews, summaries, biographies and interviews with the actors.
The collection comprises of iconic movies and plays of the time, including: Kogda probuzhdayutsa myortviye, Krest i mauzer, Kabinet voskovykh figur, The Spanish Dancer, Namus, A Society Scandal, Nashe gostepriimstvo, Nina Dza-dzu.
The individual actors` pamphlets feature a myriad of Western stars, such as Greta Garbo, Pola Negri, Douglas Fairbanks, Harold Lloyd, Corinne Griffith, Milton Sills, Pat and Patashon, Mae Murray, Charles Ray and many others.
The collection also includes several published essays and brochures with theoretic material, such as G. Boltyanskiy`s Kinokhronika i kak eyo snimat, Gollivud. Amerikanskiy kino-gorod by Alisa Rosenbaum (Ayn Rand), as well as K. Apushkin`s Kamernyi teatr.
