Susy Gómez's work explores her own autobiography, in which everyday objects become metaphors: dresses, hearts, eyes, houses, flowers, boats, butterflies, chairs. In this particular case it is a dress, which is one of the most characteristic pieces of the artist, as very similar pieces have been exhibited in several international fairs, such as ARCO. The artist presents us with an empty dress, not inhabited, a concept where she develops a whole game around the qualities of the material, which she molds and adapts to the female form, thus converting a flexible material into a light fabric, which stands out for its fluidity. This importance of the material itself in the conception of the dresses was pointed out by the artist in her solo exhibition held at the Horrach Moya Gallery, Susy commented "It is a very masculine material, that is noticeable from the very moment you work with it, even in the reactions it provokes".
Susy Gómez studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona and, after completing her training, held her first solo exhibition at the Norai gallery in her hometown in 1987. Six years later, in 1993, her personal exhibition held at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona caused great expectation. His work is characterized by a great technical versatility, which includes painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, video and installation. In 1995 she took part in the ARCO fair, achieving a success that led her to be included in important national and international group exhibitions, such as the Salón de los 16 of the same year. Since then she has held numerous personal exhibitions, both in Spanish cities and in Turin, Athens and Nice, where she showed her work at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. In 1999 he was awarded the Endesa Scholarship, and the following year the IVAM's Centre del Carmen dedicated his first retrospective to him. In his work can be found several proposals, which continue the tradition of postminimalism, and at the same time are linked to the most current aesthetics. His work is part of the following collections of national and international centers and entities: Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid); Artium de Álava (Vitoria); Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (Valencia); Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma; Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga; Murugami Hirai Museum, (Tokyo); Col-lecció Testimoni, Fundació "la Caixa" (Barcelona); L'Oreal Collection; Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain-Nice, among others.
