JORGE CANO (Madrid, 1973).
"Peking, 1955", 2006.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed, dated and titled on the back.
Measurements: 202 x 142 cm.
Acrylic on canvas in which the artist represents several characters holding a gun with their right hand raised to the sky. The figure in the foreground and the character on the left stand out specially, because they have been portrayed with more precision by the artist. Their facial gestures, which denote joy and enthusiasm, can be appreciated. The young people standing outside seem to be part of a demonstration. Although the artist does not make any specific reference to this theme. However, perhaps because of the banner in the background and the attitude of the young people, the viewer intuits a piece with a certain political charge.
