Joan Mora Soler was born into a family of artistic tradition, as his father was a marble carver. His first studies took place at the Llotja School in Barcelona, and he later expanded his training in Paris, at l'École de Beaux-Arts. His work focuses mainly, perhaps due to paternal influence, on marble, which he is able to work with great realism, managing to evoke textures and sensations. In fact, his pieces speak to us, in general, of everyday objects, of banal things, but which, transmuted by the power of the stone and the artist, acquire a great evocative power. In 1978 he held an important exhibition at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona. Since 1981 he has participated assiduously in the ARCO Fair in Madrid. Some of his pieces are exhibited in public spaces in cities such as Barcelona, where the monument to Mossén Clapés and the sculpture Barcelona Olímpica have been installed in the Casa de la Ciudad. In Lausanne, Switzerland, the Olympic Flag sculpture is exhibited at the IOC headquarters. Throughout his career, he has received several awards, scholarships and mentions. He received the Grand Prize at the V International Biennial of Valparaiso, in 1981, or the First Prize for sculpture at the XII International Biennial of Sport in the Fine Arts, in 1997 and 1999.
