In this work the artist presents us with a game of ambiguities, firstly, in terms of the identity of the portrayed figure, and secondly in relation to the emotions he is trying to convey. The detail of the hair on the face, indicates perhaps a movement through the air, a precise moment, receiving the breeze of the wind, suggesting the concept of freedom. However, the loss of identity that is produced by keeping the face covered, confronts the idea of freedom.
Javier ártica began his artistic education studying Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. After finishing his studies in 2008, he began his artistic career, exhibiting his work individually in many cities in Spain, such as Avilés, Pamplona and Salamanca. Although he has also participated in various group exhibitions in Barcelona, Bilbao, Valladolid, etc.. In addition, in 2020 he was the protagonist of the program "Desatados", broadcasted by Spanish Radio Television. Currently, he has established his workshop in the city of Madrid, where he carries out collage and painting projects. His work is characterized by an aesthetic language of realistic cut, highlighting an extensive and light brushstroke, which tends to vibration, thus giving rise to an expressive and rhythmic finish, where the doubtful and the instinctive, come together. Artica introduces the viewer into a world where the dreamlike and the real merge, through reminiscences of surreal connotation, creating a synergy between both concepts.
