Alex Katz is an American figurative artist known for his distinctive style characterized by bold colors, simplified forms, and a focus on portraiture and landscapes. He emerged as a prominent figure in the Pop art movement during the 1960s, gaining acclaim for his iconic, larger-than-life paintings and prints.
His realistic paintings don't focus on minute details, but rather on fundamental color contrasts and the positions in which the subjects are placed. Some of Katz's highest-selling paintings are those of his wife and muse Ada.
