The 2000 Open Championship featured a young Tiger Woods at the absolute peak of his powers. The 24-year-old completed the career Grand Slam by winning for the first time at St. Andrews by eight strokes over runners-up Thomas Bjørn and Ernie Els. Tiger became the youngest golfer ever to complete the career Grand Slam and achieved the lowest 72-hole score in relation to par at −19, which was a record for all major championships for fifteen years.
