There’s no bigger rivalry in the Ivy League than Harvard vs. Yale, and the gridiron is where it all started. The two esteemed universities began competing in football back in 1875, the second-oldest rivalry in college athletics behind Yale-Princeton (1873). On November 24, 1900, the Crimson (10-0) faced the Bulldogs (11-0) at Yale Field in New Haven, CT. In a battle of two undefeated squads, the home team prevailed 28-0 to become National Champions. Yale shut out ten of its twelve opponents on the season, outscoring them 336 to 10.
This wonderful Art Nouveau-inspired ticket admitted the original owner to this historic game. The ticket stub is in remarkable condition for its age with some minor corner wear and a rough left edge where it was torn upon entering the stadium. The original owner has thoughtfully added the game’s results by writing “Yale 28. Harvard 0” in blue ink. The ticket has been encapsulated and graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA and remains the only example yet to be authenticated.
