- Lot Description
From 1965 to 1966, Bobby Murcer was able to live out his boyhood dream of playing alongside his boyhood idol, Mickey Mantle. The two ballplayers both hailed from Oklahoma and were even signed by the same Yankees scout. The friendship between the pair extended long past their playing days as is evident in Murcer’s copy of Mantle’s autobiography, “The Mick.” The Yankees legend signed the title page with, "To Bobby, My Best Wishes To a great shortstop from another. 'Screw the Hicks,' Mickey Mantle.” The signature and inscription are in outstanding condition and displays nicely beneath “The Mick” title logo. The book comes with a LOA from the Murcer family as well as a LOA from PSA/DNA for the signature.
