Michael Jordan was famously cut from his Emsley A. Laney High School varsity basketball team as a sophomore because he was deemed too short at 5' 11". After growing four inches, he returned as a 6' 3" junior and made the varsity team. Upon earning a spot on the varsity roster, Jordan averaged more than 25 points per game over his final two seasons of high school play. As a senior, he was selected to play in the 1981 McDonald's All-American Game and scored 30 points. Of course, we know the rest of his story.
Offered here is a 1980 Laney High School throwback jersey signed by His Airness on the front below his iconic number "23". MJ's bold autograph in black permanent marker rates 8.5/10 in our book. The white mesh jersey (no size indicated) is tagged by Nike's Jordan Brand on the left front tail with a "M.Jordan 1980" flag tag. Originally sold by Upper Deck Authenticated as part of a special, hand-numbered limited edition series of 123 jerseys in the early 2000's, this one is "99/123" and includes a UDA hologram sticker (BAK30268). Also comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
