- Lot Description
On January 6, 2006, the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Toronto Raptors at Staples Center for a regular season game that would become legendary for Kobe Bean Bryant. There was nothing Jalen Rose or his Raptors teammates could do on defense that night to stop #8, who went into full "Black Mamba" mode from the tip. Kobe made 28 of 46 field goal attempts, including 7 for 13 from three, and went 18-20 at the line to finish with a career-high 81 points. It remains the second highest scoring mark in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962.
Offered here is the printed box score from that iconic performance with a large "Kobe" signature in black marker. Identical to the official scoresheets handed out in the Staples Center press box to media members after the game, its origin cannot be confirmed nor the approximate date when Bryant signed it. Nevertheless, this will always be a highly coveted piece for Kobe, Lakers and basketball collectors in general. The few of these that have sold publicly have gone for five figures. Authenticated by PSA/DNA, it comes encapsulated in a jumbo holder for safe preservation and ideal display.
