- Lot Description
The 1971-72 Indiana Pacers won their second ABA title in five seasons in the ABA. Power forward George McGinnis became an immediate star upon joining the Pacers as a rookie out of Indiana University in 1971-72. He averaged 16.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the title-winning Pacers as a rookie. McGinnis went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the ABA and later the NBA.
Offered is McGinnis' 1972 Indiana Pacers ABA championship ring. The face of the ring features a blue stone in the center surrounded by real diamonds and the words "PACERS 1972 CHAMPIONS." On one shank is his last name "MCGINNIS," number "30" and the Pacers logo at the time. The other shank has the date of the title-clinching game "MAY 20, 1972," the final score, the ABA logo, and the slogan "PRIDE, POISE, PERFECTION." Inside is stamped with the hallmark "HERFF JONES HJ 10K." The size 13 ring weighs 28.25 grams.
