- Lot Description
In 1942, Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson, two baseball legends, reunited for a war bond exhibition game, drawing immense crowds and raising significant funds for World War II efforts. Their participation highlighted sports' role in patriotism, showcasing the unity and spirit of Americans during a time of global conflict.
This 7.5" x 9.25" photograph shows the two exchanging pleasantries before one of the exhibitions. The reverse has the names of the players depicted, "Photo by Wm. Greene" and "Received Aug 24 1942" stamps. Some surface waving present. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA and deemed a Type 1 photo.
