Fresh to the market comes this Wilie Mays game used Hillerich & Bradsby bat dating to circa 1965-69. The Say Hey Kid won the second National League MVP award of his storied career during that period while continuing to put up gaudy numbers and extending his record-setting streak of 12 straight Gold Gloves.
This piece of ash lumber saw auction in some of Willie's best years and exhibits evidence of excellent use with several ball marks and stitch impressions throughout the barrel. Green bat rack streams and blue ink marks from ball contact are also prevalent. A light coat of pine tar exists on the mid-handle. The model number (S2) is stamped on the knob end along with Mays' number "24" marked in pencil. There is a handle crack with remnants of tape used to secure the crack at one point. Weight is 33.8 oz. and length is 35 inches. Overall, it survives as a wonderful Mays gamer with terrific aesthetics on the barrel and insignia label. Comes with a PSA/DNA letter from John Taube who has given the bat a 8.5 GU grade.
