- Lot Description
The “Midsummer Classic” returned to Yankee Stadium in 2008 for the fourth and final time, which hosted the *All-Star* Games in 1939, 1960 and 1977. The American League entered this ASG on an 11-game unbeaten streak (10–0–1) as the NL continued to look for their first win since 1996. This would turn-out to be longest All-Star Game in MLB history (4-hours and 50-minutes), and it also tied the mark for the longest game by innings (15) with the 1967 *All-Star* Game. The A.L. would win again, 4-3, and J.D. Drew was named MVP.
Offered is former San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson's 2008 MLB All Star Game ring from his personal collection being offered in this auction. This was his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic in a season where he racked up 41 saves. Accompanied by a Wilson LOA certifying the piece was indeed part of his personal collection.
