On September 11th, 1985, the Cincinnati Reds faced off against the San Diego Padres for a late summer evening game. During the game, Pete Rose hit a single to left-center to surpass Ty Cobb as MLB's hit king after the record had stood for over fifty-seven years.
This lot offers a near-mint ticket stub from the late-season game as well as a Cincinnati Reds 1985 official scorebook. The scorebook remains in great condition as well. Featuring an image of Rose kneeling beside the Red's logo, a group of baseballs lists out the number, '4192', honoring Pete's new record.
An excellent pairing of two pieces of memorabilia from the record-breaking season.
