- Lot Description
Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson II took place on June 28, 1997 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The fight has become to be known infamously as The Bite Fight, as Tyson bit off a part of Holyfield's ear. Tyson was disqualified from the match and lost his boxing license, though it was later reinstated. Offered is a photo from the fight, where Tyson appears to be discussing the situation with one of the fight officials. The PSA/DNA Type 1 image has been encapsulated and printed with a border. This is one of only a few known type 1 photos from the historic event. This exemplar features one of the officiating crew walking away with Holyfield's ear enveloped in a white napkin in his hand. Presents beautifully with no major blemishes.
