- Lot Description
If pro basketball had a "Joe DiMaggio" it would be John Havlicek. Havlicek played with an unmatched skill, elegance and class while winning 8 championships with Boston Celtics on his way to the Basketball Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2019.
Havlicek was one of the heroes of the 1969 Boston Celtics championship-winning team. He led the Celtics in scoring in five of the seven NBA Finals games as they narrowly defeated the heavily favored Lakers. He is pictured on this May 12, 1969 Sports Illustrated. The magazine grader CGC authenticated the example and gave it a grade of 8.5. This assessment made it one of the highest graded in the company's population report, with just two graded higher.
