“All rise!” Since his call-up to the majors in 2016, Aaron Judge has wowed fans and fellow big leaguers alike, shattering MLB records and conducting himself gracefully as the modern-day face of the New York Yankees. His memorable home run chase of 2022 to break Roger Maris’ famed 61 in ’61 culminated with the 6’7”, 280-pound slugger blasting 62 dingers, setting a new American League record and captivating the entire baseball world.
Opening Day of Aaron Judge's official 2017 rookie season brought the Bronx Bombers to Tropicana Field for a series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Presented here is his road gamer from that April 2nd matchup. In his first plate appearance of the season, Judge lined a double down the left field line to drive in New York’s first run of the game. Who knew that would be the first of 114 RBI for the former Fresno State stud. Judge went on to produce arguably the most decorated rookie season in MLB history. His 52 homers led the American League and surpassed Mark McGwire’s 1987 rookie record of 49 long balls. Batting .284 with a 1.049 OPS, Judge also led the Junior Circuit in runs (128) and walks (127). He ran away with 2017 AL Rookie of the Year honors and finished runner-up in AL MVP voting. The Yankees advanced to the 2017 ALCS where they fell to the eventual World Series Champion Houston Astros.
The massive size 52 gray jersey made by Majestic displays obvious wear, with contact marks on each shoulder and frayed threads to the sewn-on front letters – all of which allowed Sports Investors Authentication to easily photomatch it to the 4/2/2017 opener from Judge’s historic AL ROY campaign. His now iconic number “99” appears on the reverse in navy blue tackle twill outlined in white – the same format as “NEW YORK” on the front. The jock tag on the front left tail features a Yankees team-coded labeling and certification stickers from MLB Authentication (#JC156015) and Steiner Sports certifying the shirt's game use on 4/2/2017. Includes separate full LOAs from Steiner and SIA with the photomatch analysis.
