- Lot Description
The Los Angeles Dodgers came into Game 7 of the 2020 NLCS looking to become just the 14th team in MLB history to erase a 3-1 playoff series deficit and advance. The Atlanta Braves were looking to stave off that comeback and advance to the World Series for the first time since 1995.
Played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX (home of the Rangers) due to COVID, the Braves were ahead 3-2 entering the top of the fifth inning with Freddie Freeman coming to the plate and looking to extend the lead. And the star first baseman nearly did just that, launching this ball deep to right field. The towering drive allowed Dodgers rightfielder Mookie Betts to time his jump and make an incredible game-changing catch, robbing Freeman of a homer.
It was the second home run robbery in as many games for Betts, who did it to Marcel Ozuna in Game 6 as well. This pivotal defensive play ultimately allowed the Dodgers to come back and win the game and series by identical 4-3 tallies, clinching a berth in the 2020 World Series that L.A. eventually won as well. And this is the very ball hit by Freddie and robbed by Mookie. The Official 2024 World Series (Manfred Jr.) baseball has a perfect blue paint transfer from Freeman's bat contact.
