- Lot Description
During the 2013-14 season, the Los Angeles Lakers introduced black alternate jerseys to their rotation of game uniforms. The so-called "Hollywood Nights" jerseys were a hit for players and fans alike, and continue to be a design coveted by Lakers collectors today. Kobe Bryant famously wore this style jersey on the cover of the Oct. 21, 2013 Sports Illustrated issue called "Alpha Dog." (We auctioned that very photo-matched jersey back in 2020.) A decade ago, Panini America, Kobe's exclusive autographs and memorabilia partner from 2009 until his retirement, released these special, limited-edition Kobe Bryant autographed and "Black Mamba" inscribed Hollywood Nights jerseys to the market. Few have come up for auction. In fact, we could find no public sales since Kobe died in 2020.
Black with purple and yellow accents, the striking Mamba-esque shirt has Kobe’s iconic No. “24” sewn on the chest and reverse in purple mesh on gold and black tackle twill. “LAKERS” appears across the chest in purple and gold lettering. “BRYANT” is sewn across the upper back in purple-on-gold tackle twill, with the NBA logo and "16x' patch for the number of Lakers' titles. Kobe has signed his full name on the back '2' and "Black Mamba" on the '4' in bold silver marker. The "66/124" edition is hand-numbered on the rear '2' next to Panini and PSA/DNA cert stickers. The Adidas XL size tag with Length +2” flag is sewn on the front left tail alongside the NBA Authentics label. Interior shirttail tagging indicates a "06/14" manufacturing date. The unworn, pro-cut jersey comes in flawless condition. Includes COA from Panini and full LOA from PSA/DNA.
