- Lot Description
Derrick Rose was selected first overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, who desperately needed an electric player to spark the franchise after ten years of mediocrity without Michael Jordan. And D-Rose did just that, winning the 2011 MVP in his third season at just 21 years of age. Things were really looking up for Bulls fans as their star guard led Chicago into the 2012 playoffs as the Eastern Conference's #1 seed after a dominant 50-16 regular season. Unfortunately, a catastrophic injury to Rose's left knee in the Bulls' first game of the opening round derailed their title hopes. After returning from the ACL tear a year and half later, Rose was never the same explosive player. Still, he rebuilt himself into a valuable contributor on three other teams (T-Wolves, Pistons and Knicks) before retiring at the end of last season. Naismith will be calling one day.
Offered here is a pair of Rose's 2011 Adidas 'AdiZero Rose 2' signature model sneakers in USA-themed colors that he wore as a member of USA Basketball. Rose represented USA on its 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championship teams, and this is very rare style made specifically for international play. Properly tagged under the tongues with his size 12.5 and a "9/11" [month/year] manufacturing date indicated on the Adidas label, the design features a unique lace-lock strap emblazoned with Rose's name and facsimile signature. Rose has added his real autograph to both toes with his "#1" inscribed in black marker. The white sneakers with red and blue accents exhibit plenty of wear on the toes, midsoles and insoles. Consigned directly from a Hollywood actor whose daughter played college basketball at a major D-1 program, these shoes were a gift from Rose when she was a young girl. Autographs certified by PSA/DNA.
