- Lot Description
David Ortiz was clubbing homers for the Red Sox and Hillary Clinton was serving as Secretary of State for the Obama Cabinet fifteen years ago when “Big Papi” signed one of his game-used bats for the former First Lady. This Nokona ‘NK-243’ pro model dates to 2009-10 when Ortiz used the Texas-based brand intermittently in addition to Rawlings. The lovable Dominican slugger averaged his standard 30 big flies and 100 RBI for the two seasons along his steady road to the 500 HR Club.
The two-toned maple bat has a black-painted upper section and standard lower finish separated by a golden band in the middle. A Dominican Republic decal flag is positioned next to the central gold band. The bat is uncracked and shows light to moderate usage with a few contact marks. Ortiz has autographed the barrel with the personalized message “To Miss Hillary Clinton, Thanks” in gold paint pen (9/10). Our consignor used to work for someone with strong connections within the Democratic party who acquired this bat directly from Mrs. Clinton’s staff. Includes full LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA for the autograph and inscription. Additional LOA from bat expert John Taube of PSA/DNA (GU 7.5).
