- Lot Description
The 2000 New York Mets entered the year as defending National League runner-ups, having lost to the Atlanta Braves in the 1999 NLCS. They went 94–68 and finished second in the National League East, but earned the NL Wild Card. In the NLDS, the Mets took care of the San Francisco Giants 3-1 to set up an NLCS matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals. New York handled the Cardinals 4-1 and headed to a Subway World Series against the Yankees.
Offered is a 2000 New York Mets National League Championship ring presented to a staff member from the organization. The Mets lost the World Series 4-1 to the crosstown rival Yankees. The face of the ring has the "NY" logo made up of small diamonds on a black stone on top and at the corners encircled by ""2000 NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS." One shank has "LEPRE," "STAFF," with "AMAZING AGAIN Mets" and the New York skyline. The other shank has the MLB logo, pennants, subway cars, and the words "Subway Series". "JOSTENS 10K" and the staff member's full name "Tony Lepre" stamped on the inside. The ring is about a size 12 and weighs 34.79 grams. Includes the Jostens box.
