- Lot Description
Fans had to go all the way back to Mickey Mantle to remember a player with the same natural talents shown by Ken Griffey, Jr. Whether it be hitting, fielding or running the bases, no one in the 1990s did it better than Junior. These Nike cleats were worn by Griffey during the 1992 season, his fourth in the majors, when The Kid batted.308 with 27 homers, 39 doubles and 103 RBI.
Junior’s ’92 Nike Air high-tops show outstanding game use. The leather is broken in nicely with a showing of scuffs and turf stains throughout – just the kind of game use you’d want to see on an early pair of Junior cleats. His number “24” is hand written in marker on the back of each cleat and the Nike labels are still affixed inside each tongue. The real prize is Griffey’s bold signature in silver permanent marker on the outer heels of both cleats.
Sourced directly from Griffey by our consignor, they come with a JT Sports LOA from John Taube for the cleats. Autographs certified by PSA/DNA.
