- Lot Description
When it came time for Ken Griffey Jr.'s Hall of Fame vote in 2016, sportswriters paid him the highest compliment they could by electing him with 99.32% of the vote, the highest up to that date. Griffey’s greatness was evident right from the start. He was the American League home run champ for four seasons and won ten consecutive Gold Glove awards for his defensive prowess in centerfield.
This batting helmet was used by Junior during the 1992 season wen The Kid batted .308 with 27 homers and 103 RBI. Junior’s batting helmet shows excellent use. There are the expected scuffs from contact with the ground and other equipment along with perspiration stains on the interior headband. The Seattle Mariners cap logo decal is in very good condition and remains bright. The American Baseball Cap size 7¼ label is still affixed inside and Griffey’s number “24” sticker is found on the back of the helmet. The Hall of Famer has signed the brim in nicely contrasting white pen.
Sourced directly from Griffey by our consignor, it comes with a JT Sports LOA from John Taube for the helmet and a full LOA from PSA/DNA for the autograph.
