- Lot Description
This lot features the following three Olympic participation medals:
1980 Moscow Summer Games. Tombac (brass alloy with copper) medal designed by Angelina Leonova and minted by Leningrad Mint. Diameter 60 mm; weight 125 grams. Obverse has Moscow Games emblem above Olympic stadium and raised Cyrillic lettering. Reverse has detailed view of Red Square in Moscow. VF condition. Comes with original red velvet-lined presentation case (closing function needs repair).
1984 Los Angeles Summer Games. Bronze medal designed by Dugald Stermer and minted by Jostens. 60mm in diameter; weight 95 grams. Obverse has raised image of '84 L.A. Olympic torch. Reverse has '84 L.A. Olympic legend over Olympic rings and laurel branches. VF condition. Comes in original blue velvet presentation case.
1992 Barcelona Summer Games. Burnished copper medal designed by Xavier Corbero and manufactured by Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre. 70 mm in diameter; weight 260 grams. Obverse has "XXV Olimpiada Barcelona 1992" with the Games logo of a stylized man leaping over Olympic rings. Reverse has engraved spiral and elongated lightning bolt. VF condition. Pouch not included.
