Hockey legend Gordie Howe came out of retirement in 1974 to join his sons Mark and Marty on the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey League. Despite being in his mid-40s, Howe led the Aeros to back-to-back league championships in 1974-1975 and won the WHA's Most Valuable Player Award in 1974. This action shot shows Gordie Howe scoring a goal against the Quebec Nordiques on May 6, 1975. The Type 1 photo measures 8” x 10” and shows edge wear and toning throughout with printing marks in the white borders. The reverse has the remains of the original caption slug and United Press International stamp along with several hand written notations and paper and glue residue. The photo has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
