In the run-up to Super Bowl I, the Dillingham Ticket Company produced this proof to demonstrate what one of the tickets to the first AFL-NFL Championship Game would look like. Compared to an official Super Bowl I ticket with an actual seat, the differences between that and this proof are very slight with the most obvious being the width of the type below the blue “AFL-NFL” title. As a proof, this ticket does not bear the tunnel, row, and seat numbers. It presents in wonderful condition and displays beautifully with just one bum top left corner. A sterling example of a prototype for what would soon become the most-watched annual sporting event in America. Encapsulated EX-MT 6 by PSA, it stands as the highest graded example in the PSA Registry, with only one other example authenticated (EX 5). And while seated tickets may be more coveted among collectors, a 1968 SB II Proof (Blue) with a pop of 3 sold for $31,200 at auction in 2022.
