The 1964 season was the 62nd for the New York Yankees. The squad finished one game ahead of the White Sox to win the 29th pennant in franchise history. The team was managed by legendary catcher Yogi Berra and was narrowly defeated in the World Series by the Cardinals in 7 games. This was the final season of playoff baseball in the Bronx until 1976.
Presented is a 1964 American League Championship ring presented to catcher Jake Gibbs. Gibbs wore pinstripes his entire career from 1962 to 1971. The face of the ring features the iconic Yankees top hat logo, along with three precious stones: a real diamond, red ruby and blue sapphire. The words "AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS" encircle the face. Both shanks feature "1964" above a large baseball. Interior band is engraved with Gibbs' name and stamped "Balfour 14K." Band measures to a size eight (8). Weight is thirty-three grams (33 g.)
