- Lot Description
Before he led the Miami Dolphins to a then-record three consecutive Super Bowl appearances, Bob Griese was an All-American with the Purdue Boilermakers. In 1966, Griese led the Boilermakers to their first appearance in the Rose Bowl, where they defeated USC in a 14–13 upset. This stunning image of the emerging star quarterback is the earliest Type 1 photo to depict the Hall of Famer while at Purdue. The photo shows nice contrast, with warm toning throughout. The reverse has the Chicago Daily News stamp and typed and handwritten notations. The photograph measures 5” x 7” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
