- Lot Description
The 1962 National League home run title race had its fair share of Hall of Fame names gunning for the crown. Once all was said and done, San Francisco's Willie Mays led the way with 49 bombs, followed by the Brewers' Hank Aaron with 45, Cincinnati's Frank Robinson with 39, Cubs legend Ernie Banks with 37, and finally, SF's other big hitter, Orlando Cepeda with 35.
All future Hall of Famers autographed this 1963 Topps #3 NL Home Run Leaders card in impeccable fashion. The bold blue permanent marker displays well atop the colorful card surface, amplified by nice penmanship from the five major league sluggers. A scarce opportunity for an autographed vintage card, let alone an example with five HoF signatures.
The card has been given an EX-MT 6 grade from PSA with a near-perfect MINT 9 grade for the five autographs. Only one autographed example in PSA's Population Report has been designated with a higher card grade.
