The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team went on a run of five consecutive Final Four appearances from 1959 through 1963, a feat topped only by John Wooden's UCLA Bruin. The Bearcats came close to winning it all in Oscar Robertson's final two college season before putting it together for back-to-back NCAA titles in 1961 and 1962. They were runners-up in 1963 as well.
An important player on those Bearcat back-to-back title teams was starting center George Wilson, who earned All-America honors in 1963 and won a gold medal as a member of Team USA at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Offered here is Wilson's 1962 NCAA championship ring. The face of the ring features a red stone with the words "UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI 1962" encircling it. On one shank is "NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS" above the words "DILIGENCE, DISCIPLINE, INTEGRITY." The other shank features "NCAA" above its logo and the same three words as the first shank. Inside the band are Wilson's initials "G.W." in a script with the Jostens and "10K" hallmarks. The ring remains in exceptional condition with minimal wear. It weighs 21 grams and comes in size 11. Includes a letter from George Wilson himself.
