- Lot Description
Offered here is an original Type 1 portrait photograph of the great Roger Maris in his Yankees home pinstripes during Spring Training in 1962. One of his finest images we've ever seen, the left-handed slugger is captured with a bright smile just a few months removed from becoming baseball's single-season Home Run King after blasting 61 in '61.
Credited on the reverse by UPI United Press, it can be precisely dated thanks to the pre-1963 two-digit zip code stamp. The high-grade photo comes in terrific shape with clean white borders, unblemished corners and a very nice surface. Picture clarity is ideal.
