- Lot Description
The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees met in the 1960 World Series. After three blowout victories by the Yankees and three close victories by the Pirates, the two teams met in Pittsburgh for the decisive Game 7 on October 13. The Pirates took a 4-0 lead into the fifth inning when the Yanks began to strike back, ultimately leading 5-4 through six innings. The Pirates took a 9-7 lead into the top of the ninth, but New York struck back and had the game all tied at 9 going into the bottom of the ninth. That was when Bill Mazeroski hit one of the most memorable home runs in World Series history, a walk-off solo shot that won the game and the World Series for Pittsburgh. Offered is a ticket stub from this iconic moment in Pirates history. PSA has encapsulated the stub and deemed it to be a GD 2.
