The 1959-60 Ohio State Buckeyes were the only basketball squad in program history to win the NCAA championship. The team was coached by Hall of Famer Fred Taylor and led by three fellow Naismith inductees in center Jerry Lucas, forward John Havlicek, and forward Bob Knight (famously known for coaching Indiana University). They finished the season with an impressive 25-3 record.
This lot offers a commemorative dual-panel basketball honoring the 1960 National Champion Buckeyes with signatures from the starting five: Lucas, Havlicek, Mel Nowell, Joe Roberts and Larry Siegfried. The autographs in 8-9/10 black marker are featured on a pearly white panel for great eye appeal. The brown panel below the signatures reads "OHIO STATE BUCKEYES". Another decorated panel reads "1960 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS" and designates the ball "253/1960" of the limited edition. An excellent piece to memorialize this special team in Ohio State sports history. Includes LOA from Beckett.
