The famous "B" logo on Brooklyn Dodgers game-used memorabilia represents a rare and coveted commodity among vintage collectors. Here we have a circa 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers game-used cap believed to have been worn by outfielder Cal Abrams, blessed with 15 autographs from the '52 National League pennant winners. Properly tagged inside the rear headband by Tim McAuliffe, the Dodger blue cap shows heavy wear and has aged significantly as well. The exterior remains in fine shape, while the interior has some chipping and deterioration around the headband. Fortunately, it does not affect any of the lovely signatures.
Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax and Pee Wee Reese have each signed along front inner band. Fellow HOF member Duke Snider has signed under the green brim in the middle, surrounded by Don Newcombe, Sandy Amoros, Cal Abrams, Ralph Branca, Carl Erskine, Clem Labine, Johnny Podres, Carl Furillo, and Billy Loes. Andy Pakfo, Gene Hermanski, and George "Shotgun" Shuba added their signatures along the backside of the inner band. All but Abrams signed in blue marker. The cap has been authenticated by John Taube, who states in his letter that Abrams' black ink signature was the first one, and likely indicates that this cap belonged to him. The other autographs were added in the mid-1950s. A fantastic piece of Dodgers history. Includes COA from JT Sports and LOA from JSA for the autographs.
