Perhaps no president besides Abraham Lincoln has had to navigate more threatening circumstances than Franklin D. Roosevelt. FDR began his first term with the nation in the very depths of the Great Depression. He was then faced with the rise of fascism in Europe followed by the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. Roosevelt then skillfully led the country through a world war fought on battlefields from Europe and Asia to Africa and the Middle East. President Roosevelt signed this document in 1942 appointing the U.S. Consul to the Republic of Syria. FDR has signed the piece in bold black fountain pen, and it has been matted along with a print of a painted portrait of the 32nd president and an engraved plaque listing his achievements. The complete framed display measures 29” x 42.5” and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
