Seabiscuit, the “Little Horse That Could,” defied all odds and became the top money-earning racehorse of the pre-war era. Named American Horse of the Year for 1938, Seabiscuit and his remarkable story has been told in countless books, documentaries, and two major Hollywood pictures. As a testament to Seabiscuit’s fame, this Type 1 image shows the champ and his trainer before a statue of his likeness at Santa Anita Park racetrack in 1940. The photo measures 8 ½” x 6 5/8” and shows nice detail and contrast with all four borders. The reverse of the photo has the International News Photos stamp along with several hand written notations. Encapsulated Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
