- Lot Description
Pop of 3 with only one graded higher on the current PSA census report. Very rare Jesse Owens collectible from the black and white Deli-Atjeh Dutch issue.
Olympic hero Jesse Owens—who, as one of 18 Black American athletes at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Nazi Germany, rejected Hitler's rhetoric right in front of his own white supremacist eyes by winning four gold medals during the games. Owens is depicted here sprinting ahead to another of his four gold medals on the obverse of this black-and-white, Dutch-issue collectible. The offered example concedes grade-consistent peripheral wear, but the kinetic, action-packed central image—and its general projection of success in the face of overwhelming hate—remains crystal clear.
