As president, Theodore Roosevelt presided over a litany of acts and achievements that helped forge the modern United States. His expansion of the Navy gave America a place at the table of world super powers and his breaking of monopolies and trusts brought fair ages and treatment to the ordinary working citizen. One other pillar of Roosevelt’s presidential legacy is one that was near and dear to his own heart – nature conservation and preservation. As an avid outdoorsman, Roosevelt created the country’s first National Parks and chartered many organizations to protect natural resources. This signed 1907 document is just such an example of this. This signed piece is an appointment of an agent for the Protection of Salmon Fisheries of Alaska. The appointment has been mounted with a colored portrait print of Roosevelt along with an engraved plaque listing his accomplishments. The complete framed display measures 27.5” x 36” and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
