Offered here is a winner's medal awarded to a shooting competitor at the 1900 Paris Exposition Games (World's Fair) held May 14 to October 28 and later credited as the 2nd Modern Olympic Games. Made of silvered bronze and designed by Frederic Vernon of Paris, the obverse depicts Fame scattering laurel branches over the Exposition grounds surrounded by "PARIS 1900" and "EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE" with "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" in raised relief on top. The reverse has "CONCOURS DE TIR VIIth CONCOURS NATIONAL [7th National Shooting Competition]" inscribed within a podium and victorious male athlete standing triumphantly on top. Rectangular in shape, it measures 59 mm by 41 mm and 2 mm thick, weighing 58 grams. The French Mint cornucopia symbol along with "BRONZE" is stamped on bottom edge. Condition is VF with some toning that is more noticeable on the reverse.
