This intricately crafted medal was issued to judges at the 1900 Paris 1900 Exposition Games (World's Fair), later known as the second modern Olympic Games. Made of silvered bronze, it measures 36 mm by 51 mm and 2 mm thick, and is the work of renowned designer Oscar Roty. The obverse depicts an angel, representing the New Century, grasping a torch from a seated woman, with a Latin inscription (barely legible) etched above the angel's bead. On the reverse, you will find an impressive view of Paris, crowned with a wreath of olive branches and inscribed prominently at the top, "Exposition Universelle Internationale de 1900, Paris." The edge is distinctly stamped with "Bronze" and the French Mint cornucopia. Judge's medals/plaques are scarce. This one remains in Fine overall condition.
