Andrew Jackson’s two terms in office saw the unprecedented westward expansion of the United States. Unfortunately, this growth came at the expense of the Native American population who were displaced from their lands by Jackson’s Indian Removal Act of 1830. None the less, the United States grew exponentially as a nation under Andrew Jackson. The advent of steamships allowed the easy delivery of goods to port cities through the country’s rivers and canals, spurring on the economy. This document was signed by President Jackson during his first term and appoints the Surveyor for the Port of Cincinnati in 1831. The appointment document has been matted along with a portrait print of the 7th president and an engraved plaque listing his accomplishments. The complete framed display measures 26” x 37” and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
