Italian striker Gianluca Vialli enjoyed a storied Serie A tenure (1980-96) in his native country for Cremonese, Sampdoria and Juventus, tallying 146 goals while winning numerous league and cup titles. He finished his playing career with Chelsea (1996-99) where he served in a unique player-manager role and became the first Italian ever to manage a Premier League club. In 59 career caps for Italy (1985-92), he scored 16 goals and played in both the 1986 and ’90 FIFA World Cups for the Azzurri.
Offered here is the Italy National Team jersey worn by Vialli for a World Cup Qualifier against Malta on December 19, 1992. He scored the first goal of the match as Italy prevailed, 2-1. The blue long-sleeved shirt has the Italian Football Association logo patch on the left chest, with player number “9” in white felt on the reverse. It comes in size L with proper Diadora tagging in the collar and a weathered materials tag inside the right tail. The shirt displays ample and consistent usage. According to the included COA, the provenance is through Italian footballer Amedeo Carboni, Vialli’s former Azzurri teammate.
