- Lot Description
German, Black Forest, Very Large Hunter Motif cuckoo clock, weight driven, time and strike movement of one day duration. Total height with weights showing is nearly four feet, extra fine detail on stag's head & 10 inch antlers, also on rabbit and pheasant. Deer and rabbit with glass eyes. Crossed muzzle load percussion rifles with extra detail. Cast iron weights simulate pine cones. Balance of trim is carved oak leaves & branches, 3 dimensional with curves & waves. Articulated cuckoo bird with moving beak and wings. Heavy cast brass lyre movement. Overall exceptional.Movement is mechanically complete, but in need of service. Someone glued on the replacement minute hand, and it will need cutting off in removing movement for cleaning. Original bellows covers worn, but still hold air, produce deep "cuck-oo" sound. Right chain appears short and will need additional chain: (Available from Timesavers). Original rear cover has dry splits that have been glued; original gong intact. ACCESSORIES: Top of clock with deer head, Antlers, Horn Bell for trumpet, 2 weights , 41in x 26in x 16in
